MCAV’s MKII Asterius Self Driving Automobile - at the Intelligent Ground Vehicle Competition in Detroit

We are Monash Connected Autonomous Vehicle (MCAV), a diverse multidisciplinary student team at Monash University in Clayton.

Our mission is to study and examine the uses of connected autonomous vehicle technology in our society and explore the practical application of autonomous driving.

This recruitment round is aimed at passionate students based at Clayton, Caulfield or Malaysia with an interest in the technical side of MCAV, including software, hardware, and research. Experience is helpful but not compulsory!

Please note, as with all student teams, all positions are on a voluntary basis.

Vision for 2026! 🔭

This year, we plan to push the boundary of our capabilities at MCAV even further.

Our goals for 2026 are to:

Create an 🚗 Autonomous Valet Parking system utilising the teams Renault Twizy and ENV200
Build Asterius, 🏎️ ESDA’s small-scale autonomous vehicle to compete in the Intelligent Ground Vehicle Competition (IGVC).
Create an intricate 📡 Vehicle-to-Vehicle communication system and transport coordination platform for ****intersection control and traffic optimisation.
Develop robust 💻 hardware, software, and VR environments for traffic behaviour simulation.
